The process is conciliatory rather than adversarial in nature—that is, it encourages honest communication and reasonable cooperation rather than unnecessary contention and advocacy.” The definition applies to conflicts between individuals, as well as conflicts within a church or congregation.
How it works
The process of conciliation typically includes three foundational steps:
a. Resolving Conflict Biblically seminar
b. Conciliation/mediation
c. Ongoing peacemaking and follow-up
There are intermediary steps as well, including data gathering from leaders, “homework” for participants and follow-up reporting. For more details about the process, contact me for a copy of my brochure.
What it costs
Rates vary depending on a church’s needs, but typical charges include:
a. Reimbursement for travel expenses
b. $2,500 for a five day on-site visit, plus necessary preparation and follow-up, including:
i. Pre-visit data gathering and Resolving Conflict Biblically Seminar
ii. Conciliation/mediation services
iii. Comprehensive follow-up and reporting
c. $500 for up to 10 hours of follow-up telephone consulting
d. $500 for additional, one-day follow-up visits, plus expenses
